In line with Brighton and Hove City Council’s planning policy aspirations, we plan to redevelop Brighton Gasworks from a redundant gasworks site into an exciting new part of the city. We would like to hear your views on how we could develop this further.
This website will be updated with news and information as the proposals develop.
Our June/July 2020 consultation is currently live. Please click here to see it. We invite you to review the information online and fill in our feedback form or contact us by email or post with your comments. We encourage you to submit all comments by Monday 13 July although the information will remain online and we will accept comments after this date.
To hear a presentation on the proposals and to submit questions, please join one of our webinars on Monday 29 June at 4pm or Wednesday 8 July at 6pm. This will be accessible via a web browser or you can call in. Please go to the Webinar Registration and Feedback page to receive the access details.
In light of Covid-19 and the Government’s social distancing measures, we have had to rethink ways of engaging with the local community on our development proposals. We are continuing to do this safely and effectively by holding this consultation now and in this largely online format.
We appreciate that some may find it harder than others to access the information online. If this applies to you or somebody you know, please let us know and we will post summary versions of our consultation material to you.
We are also aware that face-to-face meetings are still a very effective approach of engaging with the community. Please let us know if you would like a video or telephone call to speak with us and ask any questions directly.
We look forward to hearing your feedback and working with you to progress our ideas for the site.
The Brighton Gasworks team, St William
News & Updates
Commencing Monday 24 August we will be carrying out minor works at Brighton Gasworks as part of routine health and safety practices to ensure the gasholder superstructures remain in a safe condition. Works are due to last for approximately two weeks. Following inspection of the gasholders, the works may include removing elements of degraded metal work. Please note that any such works are not to dismantle the gasholder.
A Q&A of questions submitted for the June/July public consultation webinars is now available. Please go to the Q&A page.
We would like to reiterate that we are accepting feedback after 13 July. Please take the time you need to review the consultation material and Q&A, and to ask questions, and send the feedback when you are ready. If you would like to speak with us via phone or video call in the meantime please get in touch.
A low resolution version of the consultation document has been uploaded to the consultation page in three smaller documents for ease of access by anyone with low internet connectivity. Please use these links to access them: Part 1; Part 2; Part 3.
